Kerala State Poultry Development Corporation : Integrated Financial Accounting

KEPCO, Kerala Government's body for poultry management has created an automated accounting and supply chain management solution

Tuesday, May 06, 2008

Taking off from a finding by the Indian Council of Medical Research that the present per-capita consumption of egg and meat in India is far behind the recommended consumption rate of 180 eggs and 1.1 Kg of poultry, KEPCO formulated a strategy to focus on self-sufficiency in production and supply of eggs and meat of all types of avian species. In addition to disseminating the requisite information, KEPCO embarked on a series of upgradation programmes to enable farmers to meet quality requirements and maintain competitive edge – both internationally and with other states. As part of the Integrated Financial Accounting Information System project, NIC has taken care of the following challenges – updation of existing information database and preparation of computerized budgets. The new system eliminates data duplication by virtually connecting the important officials concerned with the operations of KEPCO, and automatic generation of payment vouchers with real time information being uploaded to the other departments as well. Data retrieval, which was the primary challenge, is being solved to a great extent.
