Shri Gajanan Maharaj Sansthan (Trust) : IT to Strengthen Faith

To expand its scope of charitable services, this religious trust implemented ERP and raised the bar of accountability and transparency

Tuesday, May 06, 2008

The Shri Sant Gajanan Maharaj Trust (Trust) is located in Shegaon, Maharashtra, and is the second largest pilgrimage destination in Western India. This non-profit organization has vocational training centers, educational institutes, schools for the mentally challenged, dispensaries, and health-camps. Carrying out daily operations of the Trust, like managing volumes of donations and channeling its proceeds wase a tedious job. This called for a solution that would simplify processes, enhance operational efficiency, minimize the cycle-time in transaction processing and ease the work pressure of its staff. The transparent financial reporting was important to bolster the confidence of its stakeholders. Finally, the Trust selected SAP ERP 6.0. The biggest challenge during implementation came from the end users of the solution in terms of change, for which, a changer management program was rolled out. Post deployment, automated information exchange between departments about the material and cash flow has simplified the process. The Trust now plans to extend this implementation to other parts of its business.
