National Aviation Company of India :Integration of E-mail
After the merger of Air India and Indian, this in-house built solution has been able to allow seamless flow of information
Tuesday, May 06, 2008
Under the Air corporations rule, Air India & Indian Airlines, were merged
w.e.f 31st March 2007 with the enactment of Parliament act on Aircraft rules.
The merger of erstwhile Air India & Indian Airlines resulted in transfer from
one organization to another for better utilization of HR resources, resulting in
need for better communication and speedy dissemination of information to the
executives. It was a challenge to seamlessly communicate between erstwhile Air
India & Indian Airlines and transfer mail data seamlessly between the Domino
servers running different OS & Domino levels. There are no direct communication
links between the data centers of both Airlines. There is no hardware
compatibility as well.
The integration of their e-mail solution gives immediate flow of information
to executives resulting in speedy decision making. The movement of documents has
become efficient and cost-effective making executives more mobile and
accessible. For future, the company has plans of integrating network of both
companies, so that linking becomes cost effective and easy to maintain. They are
also planning to upgrade the network to meet the future requirements.
