Infosys : AMPLIFY

Infosys comes up with an innovative solution to tackle three of the biggest challenges in organization mgmt, using a combination of technologies

Tuesday, May 06, 2008

This project by Infosys sprung out of the understanding that in the modern digital world, there has necessarily been a proliferation of information systems and apps catering to the process that enables the organization to function effectively. Information Systems (IS) division meets the internal business needs of Infosys and runs the digital business engine through custom built apps, packages accessed round the clock, globally. Employee strength has increased from around 6000 in 2001 to over 90000 currently, including subsidiaries. As the organization grew, several challenges were faced during the critical business periods like quarter ends, with respect to performance, scalability, and availability of apps. The drivers which lead to the development of this solution are: (1) Isolation of problematic app, (2)Reactive Monitoring, (3) Manual Intervention & Ownership Issues, (4)Limited information, (5) Workload modeling consumes a lot of time.
AMPLIFY (Applications-Monitoring Performance and NotIFY) tool is an inhouse product built to automate monitoring and analyzing performance incidents of an app, and to facilitate app teams to take proactive measures to avoid unforeseen circumstances. This solution has been deployed to monitor Infosys Enterprise Apps. The tool analyzes performance of 150+ Web apps, 20 IIS Web servers, 4 Weblogic servers, & 8 database servers which contain 15000+ ASP & ASPX pages, 3000+ Java pages, & 19000+ database objects.
