Siemens PLM Software : 10G Datacenter & N/w Redundancy

A10G Datacenter with network redundancy at core and access layers to provide high-speed data transfers

Tuesday, May 06, 2008

Siemens PLM has grown considerably in past seven years and required frequent expansion of its network. Earlier network topology used in the company did not provide flexibiity of load balancing & redundancy at core & access layers. Nor was it enough to sustain the increasing network load of bandwidth hungry applications. To solve these issues Siemens PLM has built fault tolerance at network level by providing network redundancy at core & access layers. The company designed 10G datacenter considering the future growth and bandwidth hungry applications they plan to implement in future. The data center is designed on 10G Shielded copper system of AMP netconnect. Data center uses the Centralized Network Architecture (CNA) topology. This topology provides centralized control and monitoring of the network, trouble shooting is faster as compared to Distributed Network Architecture (DNA). With implementation of four Key components for Datacenter: Power, cooling, Monitoring &Management and Operational security & safety Siemens PLM have built a Tier IV Datacenter and have managed to achieve 99.999% uptime.
