Infosys Technologies : Future proof IT Infrastructure

For the 100,000 odd employees scattered across 25 countries, Infosys designed an infrastructure model aimed at managing, provisioning and maintaining services

Tuesday, May 06, 2008

In the beginning of 2006, Infosys launched strategic internal program called C-Change – Collaborative transformation of Digital Ecosystem aimed at more effective business alignment of the company's internal IT services and apps, achieving business objectives through quantifiable IT business value metrics, scalable IT infrastructure and business apps through measurable IT performance metrics, leading to a collaborative delivery of the above two objectives by involving Infosys businesses. Future proof IT infrastructure was a project under this programme.
The project was conceptualized across a four-tier architecture-Enhance scalability of IT infrastructure to match business growth, enable and sustain high availability and performance, reduce cycle time, and ongoing reduction of TCO for managing infrastructure services. Having seen an attractive ROI within 18 months of its implementation, the project has added the following components into its functional areas: (1) SAN based virtual Tape library Implementation for smaller backup windows and faster recovery (50% improvement over existing solution). (2) Enhanced security through backup data encryption and replication to remote site over IP, resulting in Offsite RPO of 2 days. (3) Innovative use of NAS to eliminate replication of source code across web server farm/s. (4) SAN environments across continents to complement primary data centers.
