Keralatravels.com began with the aim of developing a Web- based system to
provide latest updates pertaining to the tourism industry, in addition to
incorporating certain easy-to-use search and booking system for those seeking
online reservation in hotels, resorts, etc. Specifically targeted at customers
are who come to Kerala for purposes like leisure, business, and heritage; the
USP of the site is 'constant updates' and 'user friendly information' based on
inputs from the in-house travel services team. Creators of keralatravels.com
were well aware of the fact that the industry vertical they were addressing has
a lot of well-established players, big and small, but the site claims an
attractive refresh rate offered by no other site, mainly because it has the
advantage of catering only to travelers of one single destination.
Development of the website was done using PHP, with the backend database
developed in MySQL, Java, and Ajax. Worldviewer Dot Com estimates the cost of
the project, along with five other initiatives including keralahotels.com and
keralatourism.com at 2 lakhs and expects a turnover of around 80 lakhs a year.
