E-Commerce Review: amdavadbazaar.com

Missing links, incomplete information, and no online help
CyberMedia Labs

Saturday, April 01, 2000

This is an online shop from Ahmedabad. The site has a good interface, and offers a variety of categories. But delivery is limited to Ahmedabad. Categories include books, computers, music, software, perishables, gifts, flowers, crockery, home appliances, etc. A search option lets you find the products you’re looking for, but it’s very elementary and doesn’t seem to work always. Also, there aren’t many items within the categories.

Some links were not working—they were either under construction or pages were not present on the server. Some of the pages such as the Flowers link page don’t have any links to the Shopping Bag. The Groceries link showed up a list of dry fruits. Such errors definitely need to be improved upon.

The minimum order is for Rs 300, although this is not mentioned anywhere on the site. You come to know of this through a popup, when you click on Order Now with items totaling less than Rs 300 in the shopping bag. Another drawback is the absence of online help or an FAQ page. After ordering, you need to login, and the order says that payment will be against delivery. The mode of payment is also not specified. We assume it’ll be in cash.
