The current economic slowdown has impacted just about every organization
today. With even more trying times ahead, the only thing left for organizations
to do is to slash their IT spending and focus on getting more out of their
existing IT infrastructure.
Thankfully, there are lots of technologies that have picked up momentum over the
recent past, which can help CIOs in improving the efficiency of their existing
IT infrastructure.
The PCQuest SummIT for infrastructure planning and management was a business
convention meant to throw some light on these technologies and trends. The
convention had two tracks, one in the morning for IT managers and another in the
evening for CIOs. The morning track focused on providing lots of hands-on advice
and on-stage demos to help the IT managers understand how they could manage
their IT infrastructure better. The evening track focused on the strategic
issues related to the subject.
Both tracks were well-attended and remained very interactive, clearly
indicating a strong desire amongst the IT fraternity to understand how to combat
the current economic crisis.
