Use FrontPage 2000 to publish Web content on a CD

If you are using FrontPage for Web development and would like to keep a backup of your developed HTML files on a CD, then here is a solution for you. You can port the entire Web content on a CD and even launch the HTML file off the CD. For this you require a CD writer and CD writing software.

Start FrontPage and click on Open Web. In the dialog box that opens up, select the folder location where you have saved old Web content or want to save the new designed HTML files. Now create a new Web page on FrontPage, or open existing Web content in it. After, completing the Web designing part, save the files.

To publish the Web content on you hard drive, click on File Menu>Publish Web. On a Publish Web destination dialog box that opens up, click on Browse and select the location folder where you want to publish the Web pages (for example, drive letter: \My Documents\My Webs). In this folder, FrontPage will create a disk-based Web structure. Next, click on the Option button and select the ‘Publish all pages, overwriting any already on the destination’ radio button. Now, select the ‘Include subwebs’ check box, to publish a sub folder. 

To publish on a CD-RW media, you have to change the publish point to the drive letter of your CD writer. You do this from the Publish Web destination dialog box. Then follow the steps for publishing on the hard disk.

If you want to publish your Web content to a CD-R media, then first set Windows Explorer to ‘Show hidden files and folders’, from Tools>Folder options>View. Then start any CD writing software to write Web content on the CD. In our case, we used Nero Burning software. Start Nero Burning software and create a new ISO CD. From File browser, select the folder location where you have published the Web content (drive letter: \My Documents\My Webs). Finally, click on the ‘Burn current compilation’ icon from Nero. 

After burning the CD, your disk-based Web is created on CD.
