The free edition of Veeam Monitor gives you detailed information about the entire virtual environment such as, memory and CPU usage, disk and network I/O, swap usage within every ESX server, virtual machine or cluster. The paid version of the solution has some advance features such as trend analysis and capacity planning. Veeam monitor console can run on Win XP(SP2), Vista and Server 2003. It also requires MS SQL server 2005 or SQL server 2005 Express along with .NET Framework 2.0.

How to use ?
Installing Veeam Monitor is straight forward. Once installed, to start monitoring, you need to add ESX and VC Servers. To add VMware ESX, click on 'Add ESX' option on the main console of Veeam Monitor. This will launch a pop-up window, here provide hostname or IP address of the VMware ESX server along with its username and password. Once connected to the ESX server, you will be able to see details of all resources used by ESX server. You can also drill down and see resources used by a particular Virtual Machine running on the ESX server. To add an Alarm, go to 'Alarms' menu, click on 'New Alarm' option. This will open Alarm settings window. Here, first provide a name for the alarm and choose the alarm type i.e you can set an alarm for ESX server or for a virtual machine. Next you need to setup rules for this alarm. For this, click on the 'Rules' tab. This will open 'Choose Rule Type' wizard. Here you will have various options e.g. you can set a rule to monitor your resource usage, or receive an alert if a certain event is received by the virtual center. You can add multiple rules for a single alarm type. Next step is add actions. To do this, go to 'Actions' tab and click on 'Add'. Here you can choose from any of the three options available i.e receive a notification email, or send a notification trap or run a script. If there is a scenario in which you would like to suppress this alarm, you can configure it under 'Suppress' tab. Finally click on 'OK' to add the alarm.

In Veeam Monitor, you can view detailed graphical view of resources used by a Virtual machine instantly & for over a period of time.	When setting up alarms in case of particular events, Veeam allows you to create multiple rules for an alarm event.
