Thursday, February 08, 2001
Chipset: SiS 630E
Price: Rs 4,400
Software: PC health monitoring, PC-Cillin Anti-virus, Power DVD, AudioRack Sound application.
Website: www.jetway.com.tw

Though good in features and decent in pricing, the board didn’t fare too well in our performance benchmarks. It’s a Socket 370 motherboard with SiS 630E chipset, and supports a maximum FSB of 133 MHz. It has three PCI and one AMR slot. The board’s layout is good and the cables don’t interfere with one another when connected. Its two USB ports and the remaining ports are built-in. It even has an Ethernet port for network connectivity. The board comes with a detailed manual with lots of visual elements. It has a jumperfree setting to make its installation quick and easy. The bundled software is also good.

In performance, it didn’t score as well as the others in Business Winstone, managing only 19.1 Winmarks. It was the same story in graphics, as the board didn’t score too well in 3DMark2000 and VideoMark2000. In fact, even an increase in RAM didn’t improve anything. In AudioWinbench, it gave an average CPU utilization score of 14.5, which is high compared to some of the other motherboards in the shootout. In Quake III it gave an average fps of 8.8, which again is not very good.
