Tomato T530BS

Chipset: SiS 530
Price: Rs 3,950
Software: Driver CD

Since this was the only other Socket 7 motherboard in the shootout other than the Azza 5 SMT, we didn’t include it in our shootout. However, we did test the board. It supports an FSB of up to 100 MHz and has two ISA and three PCI slots. It has connectors for both ATX and AT power supplies.

This board can be used for very base level work, because its performance scores were well below the others in the shootout. Don’t expect too much from its graphics sub-system other, as it didn’t score too well in the corresponding benchmarks. In fact, Quake III Arena didn’t run at all on the board.

Considering the performance, the board is pretty expensive. However, the overall cost of the machine based on this board would be lower, since it supports Socket 7 processors.
