A feature-rich motherboard and average performance

Chipset: Intel 810E
Price: Rs 4,250

This motherboard was one of the most feature-rich boards in its category, and has much better features than the Azza 810DTC, the winner in this category. The board can take both Slot 1 and Socket 370 processors. It has an Intel 810E chipset, which has an additional 4 MB of VRAM for better graphics performance. It supports FSB speeds up to 133 MHz for that Coppermine PIII processor you may want to put in later. It has four PCI and one AMR slot for additional hardware.

The motherboard has two built-in USB ports. It comes with a detailed manual with good visual applications. It can be configured in jumper-less mode, letting you make the settings from the BIOS. Its layout is unobtrusive, and has all ports built-in, allowing for a smooth setup. The bundled software on the CD is also good.

On the performance front, the motherboard did well in productivity applications, scoring 22.2 Winmarks in Business Winstone99. It also did fairly well in 3DMark2000, but was average in Videomark2000. Its Sound Sub System is also good and only had a the CPU utilization to 6.9 percent. In Quake III it gave an average fps score of 17.9, which is good for an entry-level motherboard.

Overall, the board gained points in features and pricing, and was an average performer. This makes it a good choice for this category. It comes with a warranty of one year. Better pricing would have made it the winner.
