Plug ‘n’ Play LCD monitor

Sharp’s LL-T1501A is a 15” TFT LCD monitor with 3 USB ports, a security-lock anchor, and an adjustable screen

This 15” plug ‘n’ play LCD monitor from Sharp weighs only 5.2 kgs. Being an LCD monitor it costs much more than an ordinary 15”, but it has a smaller footprint and a slimmer design, allowing you to keep it in places with a space crunch. An LCD panel also means lower radiation over a regular monitor, making it more comfortable for people who work on their computers for long hours. The higher cost, however, makes it out of reach for a lot of such people. This makes it a suitable option for certain segments, such as research institutes, stock exchanges, or a medical ICU. It can also be used for its glamour value—a company’s demo room, a game show, or even a CEO’s desktop. The monitor consumes 23 watts of power, which is much lower power than a conventional CRT monitor.

The monitor has a wide viewing angle and the display is clear even when you look at it from the sides

Features: Plug ‘n’ play; 15” flat-panel TFT LCD monitor.Pros: Works well at 1,024x768-dpi resolution giving more useable screen space; has a flexible, adjustable monitor screen.

We tested the monitor with an AsusV3800 display card having 16 MB Video memory. First we checked out its clarity and sharpness at various resolutions, and found it gave the sharpest results at the highest resolution it supports, which is 1024x768 with 75 Hz refresh rate and 32-bit color depth. Another point to note is to stick with the refresh rates supported by the monitor. Otherwise, the display quality suffers. So make sure that the display card you use with the monitor can offer the refresh rates supported by the monitor. We then looked at the viewing angle of the monitor. It has a pretty wide viewing angle, showing a clear display even when you look at it from sides. The display does however look very bright if you see it from the top.

All controls of the monitor are neatly arranged on its front panel. These can be locked so that no one can tamper with your settings. This lock disables all buttons except for power. For additional security, it has a security-lock anchor to fix it in one place so that it can’t be moved elsewhere. It can even be mounted on the wall.

The monitor has a flexible screen that can be easily tilted and adjusted according to your liking. The monitor also sports a USB hub, giving you one uplink port to hook it to the PC, and two other USB ports for connecting other devices like a keyboard and mouse.

The monitor also comes with a settings adjustment disk that can be used to perform automatic screen adjustment before use. It has a warranty of one year. Overall, it’s a good buy, offering sharp picture quality, low power consumption, and low
radiation.
