These two notebooks are so large (physically) and contain so many features that for most purposes they are a PC not a notebook. Interestingly, they only weigh 2 to 2.5 Kg. Both notebooks are dual cores, have similar specs, but there's a large price difference between the two. Given their size and specs, there was no way that anyone looking for a notebook in the other categories would look at either of these closely. That's why they are here all by themselves. Sorry guys!

The inflated RAM and Nvidia GeForce Go 7600 with 512 MB video memory saw the ASUS F3JM score a mind blowing 8783 3D Marks and scorch the charts with 60.8 MCC Winstones-both absolutely on the top as far as performance in this shootout across the categories is concerned. It also gave 3 hours and 4 minutes of battery time in that benchmark, proving that it would be a really cool block of electronics to own. The price tag of just under Rs. 86K, even with the vendor provided 1 GB extra RAM price added in, is a great deal overall.

BOTTOM LINE: Buy if you can afford the price tag!

This is really a large notebook and is not designed to be portable at all it seems. It has a 17” wide screen and a full keyboard with a proper number pad like on a desktop's keyboard. But somehow, for its bulkiness, it weighs only 0.5 Kg more than normal notebooks, at 2.5 Kgs. The NW9420 comes with all the bells and whistles, including a fingerprint reader, a TPM chip, smart card slot, and motion sensing hard drive protection. Like all the HP notebooks we received this time, this also features a one-touch projection system – this is a button near the top edge of the keyboard that when pressed activates video streaming through the notebook's VGA port. There is a similar button that launches the calculator (we haven't seen a separate button for a calculator on any notebook so far).

Performance wise, we recorded it scoring a 3992 3D Marks and 50.1 MCC Winstones. Battery time 2 hours long, that we wished could have been longer.

BOTTOM LINE: Lots of features in this notebook, but it has a very high price tag. Compared to the F3JM, this has more features, but is lower on performance.
