Built on the Intel T2300 Core Duo 1.66 GHz, Wipro's Little Genius WLG 7120 comes under our mid-range notebook's category (according to our Aug 2006 shootout). It has the 945GM chipset with integrated Intel GMA 950 graphics. When compared with notebooks like the HP NX6310, this Wipro has double the RAM size and about 10 GB more hard disk space. However, it does miss out on an integrated webcam. The notebook comes pre-loaded with Windows XP, CA eTrust antivirus and a Stellar CD (for tools to recover data, and software). After installation, one can use it during startup to recover data, if required. It also has the 'Little Genius Console', which provides all the information about the system and allows the user to customize the settings.

The notebook scored a decent 2926 PCMarks in PC Mark05 and 523 3D Marks in 3D Mark05. When compared with Dell's XPS M1210 (reviewed last month), which scored 4192 PC Marks and 1988 3D Marks, Wipro has fared well, as the Dell had better graphics with NVIDIA GoForce 7400. But the XPS M1210 bundled that and a little more for a price tag of just over 65k. The WLG7120 weighs about 1.96 kgs, with a
screen size of 13.3” TFT; so we can't classify it as an ultra-portable also.

Bottom Line: A few more features could have justified the notebook's cost.
