Perfetti Van Melle India : Citrix application for mobility
The organization deployed Citrix technologies to make EBA available across the globe both through Commuters and mobile phones over a secure channel
Monday, June 01, 2009
Previously PVM India was using VPN to connect their branches across India and
access business applications such as SAP, etc but the key challenge was the slow
speed of WAN due to latency. The company was first evaluating on doubling the
available bandwidth but finally decided to deploy Citrix and MS solutions for
delivering the applications over not just the WAN but the Internet as well, so
that anybody and everybody could access applications across the globe. In the
second phase, they provided the same number of EBAs directly on smartphones of
the management and key people in the organization. All these features were
achieved by using the Citrix Presentation Server along with Citrix Application
Gateway for secure data connections over the Internet and Citrix NetScaler for
bandwidth optimization. The backend was Windows Server 2003 and Microsoft
Exchange 2007, which provide DSingle Sign on to the EMA and push mailing for
users. The next level of development will be to deploy a company-wide portal
which will only provide a single interface for most of the existing EBAs but
will also handle the regular office workflow.
