InfoLock is an easy to use PC security tool. It's ideally meant for PCs that are shared by multiple people. It creates one administrative user who can subsequently create more users. The administrator also has access to other features such as Windows tweaks such as hiding tabs from the Start Menu, enabling or disabling printers, etc. The users can enable an option to let the administrator delete their locked files and folders when their account is deleted.

InfoLock lets you encrypt and decrypt files through asymmetric and symmetric file encryption. Asymmetric file encryption can be used when you need to share the encrypted file with someone else and has different passwords for encrypting and decrypting a file. In symmetric file encryption, the same password is used for both. You can also fully or partially encrypt a file in symmetric encryption. Text files can also be encrypted. It provides 1024-bit encryption for text.

The tool allows you to lock and unlock folders and drives. Though this can also be done in Win XP, it is much easier in InfoLock. The utility can also be pretty useful if you're still using an older version of Windows like Win 98, or if you're using the FAT32 file system instead of NTFS.

InfoLock has a unique feature called I-Wizard, which adds itself to the Windows context menu. Whenever you need to encrypt or decrypt a folder or file, you can right-click on that file and select I-Wizard to perform the task directly. Infolock lets you split and join files as well. You can split files in up to 999 pieces. It also allows you to back up your important files and restore them when needed. Other things that you can do include locking the desktop, control running processes, package multiple files into one and even lock it. However, some of these other tasks such as locking and controlling processes are already available in Win XP, which makes them redundant here.

Bottom Line: Overall, go for this utility if you're using an older version of Windows. If you're using Win XP, you pretty much have all the functions as supported by InfoLock. The only advantage of InfoLock is that it makes it more convenient.
