The P6T is the first of it's kind reviewed by us till now. It's meant for the new Core i7 family of desktop processors and sports the Intel X58 chip set. To support the fastest processor on the planet, the board has the new LGA 1366 socket. It features triple channel DDR3 up to 1600 MHz (6 x DIMM), Intel QuickPath interconnection, a 16+2 phase power design and the Asus energy processing unit(EPU) for better power efficiency. Standard features include 8 USB ports, 8 channel Audio I/O and an E- SATA port on the back panel. Other connectivity ports on the board include 6 SATA connectors, 2 SAS connectors, IEEE1394a connector and a few others. The motherboard is designed in an ATX form factor and comes with a number of accessories like the Asus OC Palm and cables for connectivity. We tested the motherboard with an Intel Core i7 extreme processor with 4GBs of DDR3 RAM and a 400 GB HDD running Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bit edition. Scores by this motherboard were compared with those achieved by the Intel DX58SO while running on the same setup. In PC Mark 05, the motherboard gave a CPU score of 10900 which, thanks to the insanely powerful processor, is excellent. Same was for Cinebench R10, as the single core score was 3828 and 15746 when using all four. In POV-Ray, it achieved a slightly lesser score of 88753 PPS as compared to the 95325 achieved by the Intel motherboard.

Bottomline: Overall, a good buy as th e motherboard performed well and it comes with a number of features.
