This is a low-cost solution for Net connectivity. The Ace 56k
internal modem is a plug-n-play modem that’s easy to setup. Once you’ve
plugged it inside your PC, the software side doesn’t need any special
configuration.
 The
modem has drivers for Win 9x, NT, and 2000. It comes with two CDs that include
software like BitWare for Windows, Microsoft NetMeeting, IE 5, and more.
We tried the modem with several ISPs, and found that it gave
good connectivity, and didn’t get disconnected at all through the tests. The
handshake time, however, was quite long—about 32 seconds on our telephone
lines. We got varying throughputs with this modem ranging from 0.35 to 3.17
kbps.
The modem also has fax and voice features, which work pretty
well. If you’re on a tight budget, and can’t afford an external modem, this
one is a good choice given the price and features.
