CyberMedia Labs is the only
facility of its kind in the Indian subcontinent. It's a publication-run,
vendor-independent testing and evaluation facility, that covers a wide variety
of products and services ranging from those for consumers all the way up to
those for enterprise IT decision makers. This makes it the only facility in the
country, and perhaps all of Asia that covers such a broad spectrum of products
and services.
The strength of CyberMedia Labs lies in the
wide expertise base available, both as full-time technology analysts and as
associates. In specific areas, CyberMedia Labs works with institutions like the
IITs to deliver on its mandate.
Significant investments have gone into making
CyberMedia labs a state of the art facility. The lab has its own data center for
evaluating enterprise class hardware and software. It’s also the only
publication run lab in Asia to have its own High Performance Cluster. The lab’s
network runs on a Gigabit Ethernet backbone that is fully reconfigurable,
allowing creation of VLANs for tests that need isolated networks, and even
providing Gbps bandwidth at the desktop. CyberMedia Labs has the latest hardware
ranging from multi-core desktops and servers to the latest Operating Systems and
enterprise class applications. It has its own dedicated bandwidth for testing
Internet and web-based applications. On the consumer front, it gets the latest
gadgets, plasma and LCD displays, gaming consoles, and much more.
Besides doing standard product evaluations,
CyberMedia Labs also does shootouts (comparatives) of various product
categories, implementation and hands-on stories. Besides this, CyberMedia Labs
also develops CD-ROMs for PCQuest, Dataquest, and Living Digital. |
